Celebration starts at Banka soon prime minister, Narendra Modi handed over prime minister’s award for excellence in public administration to acknowledge, recognize and reward the extraordinary and innovative work to Kundan Kumar, district magistrate, Banka this afternoon.
People who are in Banka fixed their eyes on DD-I this afternoon to see the live telecast from Vigyan Vhavan, New Delhi of the live of 12 th civil services day function, start the celebration.
The prime minister’s award today goes to Banka on invocation category for Unnayan Banka-a programme mainly for reinventing education using technology.
“I feel proud as we are also the part of Unnayan Banka, we have the privilege to be the part of smart classes and our students also have started enjoying Mera mobile app mera vidalaya, a special app for proving them extra knowledge outside their class rooms,” said Manoj Kumara teacher at Government’s plus two school, Banka proudly. Many like him here also appreciated Unnayan Banka for achieving the prestigious prime minister’s award today.
Kumar however today described this achievements as the result of team works. “Banka already unfolded many success stories, our projects are approved nationally and internationally,” he said. He also said that the Unnayan Banka which also received cash prize of Rs 10 Lakh today, would be utilized in the Unnayan Banka.
Kumar said from New Delhi just after conclusion of the programme that the prime minister also launched a coffee table book ‘New Pathway’ today at the function. “160 pages’ book is on innovative measures taken out by officials different parts in the country during last one year and the lead two stories in the book are on Unnayan Banka and about how Banka administration has been managing placements of youths while engaging Tata consultancy services (TCS),” he said.

Giving a brief of the achievements he said that in the pattern of TCS, Banka administration has requested Mahindra & Mahindra company to start Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) in hospitality and retail business. “In TCS, placements are given only students having graduation or post-graduation degrees but in ITES, students with intermediate pass is eligible,” Kumar said.
“In another major development TCS will start at Bounsi and Belhar blocks so that the students mostly poor at such distant blocks could enjoy the placement facility at their doorsteps and they wouldn’t come to Banka district headquarters,” he pointed out.
Kumar also recalled how after the visit of a high level team of education department from Uttar Pradesh to Banka on March 12-13, 2018, Uttar Pradesh government has applied Unnayan Banka’s module to Chandeli district in Uttar Pradesh recently. Besides, government of India has recommended Unnayan Banka for commonwealth association for public administration & management’s (CAPAM’s) international innovations awards-2018. The award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to improving governance and services in the public sector within Commonwealth countries, Kumar pointed out.

Earlier vice president, Venkaiah Naidu after inaugurated 12 th civil services day function at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on April 20, also inaugurated the exhibition where Unnayan Banka was displayed. Kumar also had the opportunity to give a presentation on Unnayan Banka at the inaugural function.
People from every walks of lives appreciated Banka administration and said the entire credibility goes to the district magistrate, Kundan Kumar to project Banka on such a big platform.
