Public resentment run high against Lakhisarai police for the latter’s approach to cover up a sensational  gang rape incident of a minor Maha Dalit girl in the pattern of Delhi’s infamous  Nirbhaya incident.

The 14 year-old school student was forcefully lifted by some 3-4 influential persons (all Yadavas) when she was going to attending Nature’s call in a remote village, Lakhochak under Channan PS in Lakhisarai district on the evening of June 15. The ill-fated girl who was unable to face the inhuman torcher in the hands of powerful persons, lost her sense but even after that she was put inside a running train. Finally the brutal persons who too committed  heinous offence against the poor girl inside the running Mauyra Express train , threw her from the train when the train was passing over Kiul bridge and managed to escape.

On the morning of June 16, her senseless body was found hanging from the rail bridge and  brought to Kiul railway station. After primary treatment her family members who arrived at that time, brought her to Bhagalpur but since she was in critical state, she was referred to PMCH, Patna.

After Nitish Kumar’s intervention, police swings into action.

Interestingly,  for Lakhisarai police the heinous incident was ‘minor’ incident and it remained busy to give it a  ‘love affair’ angle.   According to superintendent of police, Lakhisarai the incident was related to love affair with one of the name accused and the girl developed fractures and multiple injuries all over her body due to her parents who reportedly beaten her black and blue for her ‘illicit relation’ with one of the  person accused in the incidnet. But  Lakhisarai district police caption was speechless when media asked him  how the girl developed such deep injury inside her private parts? And what was need of throwing her from the running train in the night? Doctors already applied over two dozens stiches on her badly damaged private parts.

According to sources, Mirtunjay and Santosh is neighbour of the girl who committed the heinous act with their 5-6 friends. A case has been pending against Mirtunjay for raping and killing her own sister-in-law some year back, police sources said. The girl presently in a critical state at PMCH, somehow managed to give her statement in which she identified some of the accused persons who outraged her modesty.

However, with the intervention of chief minister, Nitish Kumar who expressed his serious concern over such monstrous  act, Lakhisarai police swung into action for arresting of the culprits who as usually are absconding. “How we have transformed worse than animals, this incident is the classical instant. But if the law enforcing agencies act like irresponsible as it done in Lakhisarai, how one could expect justice or expect to counter such abnormal acts?” was the general question among the common people in this sleepy district.
