Nitish Kumar’s vivid clarifications and his desires against communal forces that damage social harmony has prompted his rivals here to open a front against ruling BJP, especially union heath and family welfare minister, Ashwani Kumar Choubey and his elder son Arijit Shashwat.

A high voltage drama unfolded here today when a  joint day long dharna was organized by district unit of Congress and RJD parties here to pressure for the demand of  arresting of Shashwat and other BJP activists who were made named accused in a FIR recently registered with Nathnagar communal riots.

Choubey however has blamed local administration for tarnishing the image of BJP and misinformed Bihar government just to hide inability of the officials concerned to control the anti socials who indulged the clash on the streets. Local BJP however threated for mass movement if the FIR registered against Shashwat and other BJP workers would not be withdrawn within next 48 hours.

Shashwat, who contested Bhagalpur town seat in the last assembly polls here from BJP ticket, has been made named accused in Nathnagar  communal riots of March 17 evening along with 21 named BJP activists and 500 unknown persons with Nathnagar PS. Besides, another dozen of people from two groups were also made named accused for creating nuisances and fighting along with another 500 unknown persons.

“The union minister and his son has been creating troubles  and we want immediate arresting of his son Shashwat and other persons who were also named accused with the FIR registered with Nathnagar PS,” Ajit Kumar Sharma, Congress MLA from Bhagalpur town seat  said. Congress and RJD party workers today staged a day long dharna outside of collectoriate here for pressing the demand of arresting of accused persons in Nathnagar incident along with Shashwat. “After Ramnavami we would intensify our movement and our leader Tejwasi Pratap Yadav will come here if police would fail to arrest Shashwat along with other accused persons,” said Tirupati Nath Yadav, district president of RJD. While Abayanand Jha from Congress said the Maha gathbandhan will start state level movements if the culprits involved in Nathnagar incident would be spared by police here.

Police on the otherhand also blamed Shashwat and his associates for taking out motorcycle procession to celebrate the first day of Vikram Samvat of the Hindu calendar illegally as they didn’t obtain permission from district administration and subsequently indulged fighting with other community members on the streets at Nathnagar on the evening of March 17, however declared him and others absconders.

“Shashwat and other BJP leaders whose names are included in the FIR, absconding. We are monitoring the case very closely and no one would be spared who would found guilty in the case,” said senior superintendent of police, Manoj Kumar. When asked him about any pressure from ruling BJP, he denied and said law would take its own course and the offenders would be booked soon.

Choubey however  told over phone from New Delhi that the incident was the classic example of failure of the local administration. “Police acted  as mute spectator when the anti social elements were attacking the procession. “The participants were well disciplined and rising patriotic slogans when attacked by the hooligans,” he alleged. He further asked in what basic the administration evading its responsibility while denying prior information about the procession and also blaming BJP workers for not taking prior permission for the procession. “They have intimated administration and if not that why they allow to procced the procession further and more than that police forces were accompanying the procession,” he gave the logic.

Local BJP unit also came in the rescue to Shashwat and demanded withdraw of the FIR against the party activists within next 48 hours. “We  could prove our innocence and subsequently the failure of Bhagalpur police. So if the FIR will not withdrawn and our members would be unnecessary harassed we will jump on the street and a mass movement would be initiated,” said Rohit Pandey, district president of BJP here. He also alleged district administration for falsely implicating BJP workers just to avoid its responsibility on law and order here. “The officials misguiding state government just to hide its inabilities,” he added further.

Arjit Shashwat is in controversy !

“ The incident created a devil and deep sea like situation here, administration has diverted the blame game on BJP while the white collar criminals enjoying the situation,” observers blamed.
