Lakhisarai unit of BJP along different social organizations strongly condemned the act of police for diverting the sensational gang rape incident of a Maha Dalit school girl. The victim , a 14 year old school girl has been fighting battel with death at the bed of PMCH, Patna till now.

BJP activists who brought out an impressive candle march last evening at Lakhisarai township in protest of the incident decried police’s role in the incident. Former party’s district president Chedi Prasad Gupta alleged police for protecting the goons involved in the heinous act. “Police is trying to shield the entire episode and even trying to raise questions over the character of the victim girl. Why police becomes so active to divert the incident? The entire development suggested that it was not the goons rather police is strongly advocating for them?” alleged many.

Lakhisarai police which earlier adopted hostile attitude with the victim, however registered FIR with Channan PS ( Case No- 72/17) after taking the statement of the girl. Two persons are made named accused with four another unknown persons are also made accuse in the FIR. Police also managed to arrest Santosh, a neighbour of the girl who is also named accused in the case. Another named accused in the case Mirtunjay Yadav was absconding. It is to be noted here that Mirtunjay is wanted by the police since long for killing his own sister-in-law last year besides train dacoities and other crimes.

But the most interesting part of this episode is a criminal like Mirtunjay  had the privilege to avoid arresting earlier despite the fact that he was living in Lakhochak village and used to move openly. Even after the sensational incident, police yet to believe that the girl was a victim of gang rape. “How we believe this when the girl has  a suspected  character? We are waiting for the report of medical board to ascertain the actuality,” said  sub divisional police officer, Lakhisarai to media persons.

Observers alleged police for adopting hostile attitude with the girl from the beginning. “After recovering the girl in unconscious state besides railway track on Kiul rail bridge, police remained mute spectator. Only after 36 hours of the incident when the family members of the ill-fated girl approached police, it became active. By that time chief minister, Nitish Kumar who was shocked to hear the incident, instructed police to take proper action against the culprits,” observers pointed out.

“Police claimed that there was a contradiction in the statement of the victim girl and the arrested person. So what is wrong in it? Any accuse usually trying to divert issues for saving his skin but the law gave priority to the victim’s statement. Secondly, police still claiming that the injury of the girl was due to her parents who beaten her for her loose character. How funny, the victim was thrown from a running train and sustained the injuries along with the inhuman acts by her rapists, her internal parts were badly raptured, and the police has been busy to cover all the substantial facts. But the question is which makes the police prompted to save the rapists?” they further asked.

Meanwhile local BJP and other social organizations are gearing up for mass movement if the police would fail to punish the culprits involved in the case.
