Police headquarter has sounded high alert for eastern Bihar districts as the intelligence reports apprehended possible spurt in Maoists menaces.
Intelligence reports suggested the Maoists who have started mobilizing, could be offensive in the districts like Jamui, Lakhisrari, Banka ,Munger and parts of Bhagalpur for taking the revenge of recent CRPF encounter at the forest covers of Khaira block in Jamui recently on December 22 in which once rebel was killed. However, the identity of the rebel yet not ascertained but he was a native of Jharkhand and was an important member in Jharkhand-Bihar special area committee of CPI (Maoists), known as JB zone.
Police recovered arms and ammunition besides some daily life items from the spot of the encounter site. Intelligence sources admitted that after the incident, movements of the banded outfits in Jamui areas have been increased. It also reveal that units of armed squads have been seen not only in Jamui but the districts like Banka and Lakhisarai too. “Our sources said that the gun toting troop members were seen wounding in forest covers. Villagers living inside the vicinity of forests areas also claimed that the outlaws regularly conducting meetings there,” the source pointed out.
The intelligence has apprehended possible retaliations from Maoists even on public places during new year celebrations. Earlier some of the districts in this eastern parts of Bihar had witnessed such incidents.
In the wake of intelligence’s outputs and directives from state police headquarters, Bhagalpur and Banka police has been alerted. Inspector general of police, Bhagalpur range has instructed Bhagalpur and Banka police to keep strict vigil on the police stations and other places. Besides, police in the districts are also told for taking special measures and also for strengthening security measures for countering the outlaws.
