The ghosh of Srijan scam continues to haunt Pirpainti areas in Bhagalpur!
Farmers at Pirpainti have accelerated agitation against the injustice against them-they once donated their lands for the proposed power plant of NTPC. But the rampant irregularities in the mode of payment of compensations as well as other indiscretions in settlements of lands acquired for the proposed power project.
And the reason for such irregularities was Srijan scam- the nexus of Srijan Mahila Vikash and Sahayog Samity, a Bhagalpuyr based voluntary organization and some corrupt official earlier embezzled the amount over more than Rs 500 crores. The incident has spoiled the smooth land
acquisition measures in Bihar as the amount was kept for the land oustees of different projects who earlier handed over their valuable lands for different projects like power project of NTPC at Pirpainti.
The compensation among some farmers were given during 2014-15 but the official concerned mainly the than district land acquisition officer, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (now absconding) was alleged for the malpractices as well as the embezzlement of government money for the land oustees at Pirpainti.
On 2017, when Srijan scam was highlighted, the official concerned put less interests to solve the pending cases like Pripainti land acquisition episode. “Actually the state government remained helpless as the entire amount was drained out. But the farmers who earlier donated their lands but didn’t get compensations, became the direct victim of the situation,” pointed out Mitthu, a land oustee at Pirpainti.
The farmers under the banner of Kishan Chetna Evong Utthan Samity have started accelerated agitations. According to the president of the Samity, Shrawan Kumar Singh the farmers recently in a memorandum to the circle officer (CO), Pirpainti urged not to change the name of such Jamabandi Raiyat (original owners of the lands in the land documents) who earlier donated their lands but yet not received proper compensations against their donated lands for the power projects.
“We have given ultimatum to the government because we apprehended that the lands of such farmers who yet not have any compensation, will be acquired by the government,” Singh alleged. He said earlier there were such incidents in the areas like NTPC’s Kahalgaon project where many people became victim of such acts.
“We will soon start mass movements for pressing our demands,” said many farmers at the areas.
The matter of embezzlement of crores of rupees in Srijan scam now under the investigation of CBI. The central investigating agency has already started
investigation for the embezzlement of the government money form land acquisition department of Bhagalpur. But the slow progress of CBI has created doubt in the minds of the farmers here.
On the otherhand, power project has been laying in defunct state as the farmers chased away the construction company which was assigned for construction of boundary walls on the acquired lands for the proposed power project at Pirpainti.
