Tortured mother attempts suicide along with three children; villagers save her, children died

Domestic violence in Bihar’s hinterlands are nothing new but when a mother jumped into a sanitary safety tank along with her three children in order to get rid of her cruel husband, it certainly exposes state governments tall claims about good governess.

The incident of Karharia village under Bath police station in Bhagalpur has rocked the entire region today in which one homemaker, Premlata Devi had decided the easy way to save from the wrath of her  husband. She first pushed her three innocent children into a toilet tank in the village and after killing children, she tried to commit suicide by jumping into the tank. However, by that time some villagers who were passing from the spot, managed to save the lady.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Nesar Ahmad Shah along with the SHO of Bath Police Station Dhirendra Kumar, rushed to the spot after getting the information.  The police has started investigating  the matter and sent the bodies to J L N M C, Bhagalpur for autopsy .

Devesh Kumar, husband of the ill-fated lady has been absconding, police said. Four-year-old Sushant, two-year-old Sonam and one-year-old Omraj died in the mishaps inside side the sanitary safety tank, more than 4 feet’s depth.

The homemaker, Premlata Devi, narrated before the police  that her husband used to beat and abuse every day, due to which she was compelled to take such hard  step. Sources said that the woman had also complained of harassment to the local police station earlier, but the police did not take any action. For this reason, the woman tried to commit suicide herself by killing three children, the sources said. Neighbourers of the ill-fated lady also echoed it and said Devesh, the cruel husband of the lady used to treat his wife like animal. “We earlier suggested the lady to go to police to complain but even she went to the police station several times, she didn’t get justice,” the neighbours claimed.

DSP, Shah said that police has started the investigation. “If we found the negligence by part of local police station for not entertained the complains by the lady as she started clamming, frim action would be taken against the erring cops,” the DSP said.
