‘If there is a will , there is a way’- this century old  proverb fits well for   Banka, otherwise a sleepy and Maoists ravaged eastern Bihar district. This small district which set an example in public  oriented ‘good governess’ is almost ready to  receive prime minister’s award for excellence in public administration to acknowledge, recognize and reward the extraordinary and innovative work done by officials of central or state government from the hands of Narendra Modi.

Prime minister, Modi is scheduled to give this award on April 21 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on the occasion of civil services day (CSD)-2018.   So far Banka district has been emerged as one of the strong aspirant of this award this time by Unnayan Banka-a programme mainly for reinventing education using technology.

Vice president, Venkaiah Naidu today inaugurated two days CAD-2018 function at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. In the first time history of Banka, young and energetic district magistrate, Banka, Kundan Kumar had the opportunity to give a presentation on Unnayan Banka at the inaugural function.

Kumar told today from New Delhi that Banka district along with two other districts in India was given opportunity to give a detail projection on the projects today at the inaugural session. “Till we are quite sanguine that Banka will win the prime minister’s award, Unnanay Banka gets excellent responses,” Kumar hopefully told. A exhibition  was also inaugurated by the vice president at Vigyan Bhavan today where Unnayan Banka was displayed.

Kumar described his achievements in promoting  good governesses. He said from New Delhi that everybody expecting award for Banka  on tomorrow but the district already has unfolded many success stories; nationally and internationally our project has started getting approvals. If Unnayan Banka would get the prize, Rs 10 Lakh would be given and the prize money would be utilized in the project, he said.

According to Kumar, on April 21, the  prime minister will launch a coffee table book on the second day of the occasion at Vigyan Bhavan. “160 pages’ book is on innovative measures taken out by officials different parts in the country during last one year and the lead two stories in the book would be about Unnayan Banka and about how Banka administration has been managing placements of youths while engaging Tata consultancy services (TCS),” he told proudly.

Like TCS, Banka administration has requested Mahindra & Mahindra company to start Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) in hospitality and retail business. “In TCS, placements are given only students having graduation or post-graduation degrees but in ITES, students with intermediate pass is eligible,” Kumar said while adding that the company will start it soon.

“In another major development TCS will start at Bounsi and Belhar blocks so that the students mostly poor at such distant blocks could enjoy the placement facility at their doorsteps and they wouldn’t come to Banka district headquarters,” he pointed out.

Kumar narrated how after the visit of a high level team of education department from Uttar Pradesh to Banka on March 12-13, 2018, Uttar Pradesh government has applied Unnayan Banka’s module to  Chandeli district in Uttar Pradesh recently. Besides, government of India has recommended Unnayan Banka for  commonwealth association for public administration & management’s (CAPAM’s) international innovations awards-2018. The award recognises those who have made significant contributions to improving governance and services in the public sector within Commonwealth countries, Kumar pointed out.

“ Really it’s a matter of proud that our project has widely got the high level acclamation,” Kumar told with full confidence and over enthusiasm. “Really it’s a matter of joy and entire credibility goes to the district magistrate, Kundan Kumar to project Banka internationally,” said Hari Narayan Roy, a social worker at Banka. While many residents said how the administration under Kumar’s direction works hard for uplifting the fates of young generations with projects like Unnayan Banka.
