Doctor’s wife asked for Rs 5 to set her husband free from abductors’ clutches ; is kidnapping industry again resurfacing in Bihar ?

Kidnapping for ransom which once was nightmare for many in Bihar, once started resurfacing -a homeopathy doctor at Katihar along with his friend said to be kidnapped and the wife of the abducted doctor was asked to reach to a place located at neighbouring Bengal with Rs 5 Lakh as ransom money. The kidnappers also threatened with dire consequences if the amount would not deliver at their hands by this evening.

According to sources, the homeopathy doctor, Munna Ghosh, a native of Teja Tola, Ward No 4 at Katihar set out from his house to Malda (Bengal) to purchase some article related to his profession on July 18. He was scheduled to be accompanied with his friends, Mithilesh Paswan and Shanker Pandey.

A complain registered to the police by the wife of the doctor stated that, her husband was scheduled to board on Katihar-Malda passenger train to reach Malda with his friends Mithilesh and Shanker Pandey. But at around 11 pm in the night on July 18, her husband called her on her mobile from his mobile and said to arrange Rs 5 lakh as his and his friend’s life was in trouble. The doctor also asked her wife to come at Samshi (Bengal) with the amount. Before knowing what exactly happened to him, the call was disconnected. But within 5 minute, again a call come but the caller was unknown who asked the doctor’s wife to deliver the said amount at Samshi by 7 pm on July 19 otherwise both persons would be killed.

Police has started investigation and interrogated Shanker Pandey at Katihar, who didn’t accompanied the doctor to Malda. “We are trying to locate the mobile location of the abducted persons and the call which come in the mobile of the wife of the doctor to know the location. We have already alerted  all concerned places including some places in Bengal,” said police sources from Katihar.

The incident spread fresh panic in the areas. The incident left the family members of the two missing persons in utter helpless conditions.
