People celebrate Sreyashi’s achievement, also pay homage to late Digvijay Babu

People in Gidhaur celebrating for Sreyashi Singh after she won gold in shooting championship in 21 th Common Wealth Games (CWG)-2018 going at Gold Coast. But people in this sleepy block were more enthusiastic not because what she achieved today rather since she is the daughter of wildly popular leader once called as Dada, Late Digvijay Singh.

People today assembled at Lal Kuthi, the house of Late Dada at Gidhaur to celebrate the function and played with gulal and distributed sweets among themselves.

Former MP of Banka and the veteran socialist leader, Late Digvijay Singh who still in the memory of people and they today had the opportunity to celebrate in front of the wall painting of their beloved leader.

Putul Devi, also the former MP from Banka and mother of Sreyashi was not at Gidhuar or at Banka, she has been accompanying her daughter at Gold Cost. A close family source pointed out how  Sreyashi had shown some excellent shooting to win the women’s double trap gold medal today. She  shot 96 in the finals and beat Australia’s Emma Cox 2 shots to 1 in the shoot-off at Belmont Shooting Centre at Gold Cost.

“She recently, she won a silver medal in the double trap event at the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Championship,” said the source. It further added that here grandfather and father served in the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) as its president and she inherited the shooting skills from them. Earlier she  represented the country in two events at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games but failed to win a single medal.

But the Jamui- girl  earlier won the individual silver medal in double trap in Glasgow and followed that by winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, the source pointed out.

“It’s a victory for the entire nation, but  we  have the privilege to celebrate it. We are really  proud of her who spent her times when Dada (Late Digvijay Singh popularly called by the mass in this region) was live,” recalled Arun Kumar Bohra, president of Jamui Zila Chamber of Commerce. Mamta Kumari , a  student in Gidhaur government’s middle school also echoed Bohra and said like her many girls want to become Sreyashi here.

People in this sleepy backward block who still remember Singh, appreciated d Sreyashi’s victory today. “Dada during his life time remained famous for his able leadership quality but  we are very happy to see her for  carrying such legacy of Dada” said Anil Kumar, a resident at Gidhuar.

“She always remains our inspiration but we want a proper training center for shooting and archery here in this special area games center, Gidhaur,” said Porithosh Soren, a youth here. The game center earlier was started functioning under sports authority of India due to the efforts of Late Singh during his lifetimes.

Sreyashi earlier in several times also urged for a developed training center for shooting so that youngsters could be made beneficiaries from it.

Purushattam Kumar a social worker  at Jamui also urged far a training center, both  shooting and archery also at Gidhaur. “Jamui has sizable number of tribal population and people from tribal community inherited master skills in fixing targets  by bows and arrows genetically. So if they could have been providing better training both in shooting and archery, Jamui could produce more Sreyashi in coming days,” he claimed.
