Goons gear up for municipal polls, hurl bomb on Rajya Sabha MP’s residence

Bhagalpur : Soon after completing the process of filling of nominations for the forthcoming municipal polls, bloody conflicts have started at Bhagalpur.

Goons even in this silk city apparently gearing up for group rivalry, supremacy by the influential candidates and settling old disputes.

Panic once spread high after last late evening incident in which unidentified criminals exploded a crude outside the residence of JD(U) Rajya Sabha member Kahkashan Perween in Bhagalpur.

Four persons, including the MP’s brother-in-law Mohammad Naem (55) and bodyguard Mohammad Tanveer (35) were injured in the blast.

Kahkashan alleged that the criminals have targeted her husband and other family members. She also told the police that the criminals earlier had demanded ransom from her family.

Senior superintendent of police, Bhagalpur, Manoj Kumar said the four injured were sitting near the school boundary in front of the MP’s house at Ishakchak in the city when the incident happened.

He  said police were investigating the case. “We are scanning the footage of CCTV camera installed in the locality. Since there was power cut at the time of the crime, local people could not see the criminals. We are trying to find out how the criminals reached the place and fled after hurling the bomb,” said the SSP. He however claimed that the culprits involved in the incident would soon be nabbed.

Sources claimed that husband of the  JD-U’s Rajya Sabha MP earlier had developed some confrontation with some people in an old dispute related to the post of secretary of a local mosque at the locality. Secondly, one close relative of the MP this time filled her nomination from the ward to contest the coming municipal polls.

However the condition of all the four injured were rushed to JLNMC hospital here are stated stable.
