Srijan scam : Is support system of Mahesh Mandal removed? Or he dies due to diseases

Family members of Mahesh Mandal, an accused in Srijan scam episode who died last night here, have leveled serious allegation against local administration for removing the support system on which he was living, caused the death.

The family members who firmly believe  the support system was indirectly removed just because the officials concerned who somehow busy to manage to save many big shorts involved in the scam certainly trying to suppress many facts from the horses’ mouth like Mandal since he was and old employee who knew many facts.

“We are much apprehensive about local police and SIT for killing Mandal so that any further discloser from his mouth revealing the names of VIPs involved in the Srijan scam could not possible,” alleged Dinesh Mandal, brother of the deceased.

Dinesh alleged that  his brother was a serious patient and withdrawal of  his support system by the concerned government agencies to kill him was a well planned conspiracy.  “They hatched the conspiracy to make Mandal silent  forever so that he could not spell out many truth and realities of the mystery of the scam which involved  many big bureaucrats and politicians,” he alleged this morning when  autopsy of Mandal was going on at JLNMC.

Dr R C Mandal, superintendent , JLNMCH  said the patient  was brought to the hospital from Jubba Sahani central jail, Bhagalpur at around 10.20 pm and died at 10.40  pm on Sunday night. Our doctors  did not even find times to conduct some tests for starting treatment, told Dr Mandal.

Doctors at the casualty ward of the hospital  attending him revealed that  said Mandal was suffering from multiple ailments like kidney, heart, diabetes and hypertension. “He was suffering from chronic kidney ailment, necessitating dialysis 2-3 times a week. He was also suffering from hypertension, diabetes and heart ailments,” , the doctors revealed. A sources from the central jail disclosed that, Mandal was earlier admitted to the jail hospital but from the morning of yesterday he started complain for not clearing urinal. By the evening his belly was much expended, possibly for not clearing of urine and finally when he condition was serious at around 9 pm last late evening, jail administration came to action and after completing the formalities, he finally rushed to JLNMCH at around 10.30 pm, the source disclosed.

Mahesh Mandal was arrested from his residence at Pista village in Jagdishpur block of district on August 11 in connection of the scam and finally sent to jail on August 13 after completing all the invistigations. SIT sources disclosed that  on the basis of the statement of Mandal,  Bhagalpur district welfare officer DWO) , Arun Kumar was also arrested in connection with the scam.

Soon with the death of Mandal, his  family members went on rampage inside the hospital campus and people from his native village started pouring to the hospital. The irate mob also manhandled with media persons at the hospital at mid night. However police somehow managed to bring the situation under control.

The family members alleged negligence on the part of the administration and the police for the death. “ My father , prior to his arrest, was under consultation of experts from the PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. Doctors prescribed regular 3-4 dialysis in week but since he kept in the jail there was even no basic health facilities, we already apprehended such incident,” broke down Siv Mandal, son of Late Mandal and also the expelled president of Juva JD-U, Bhagalpur district.

On August 11 when Mandal was picked up by SIT, he fell ill. Under police escort, his dialysis was conducted at a private nursing home in the city. Later he forwarded to jail on August 13 where he complained about his trouble. He was shifted to jail hospital. In the meanwhile his family members approached the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Bhagalpur for allowing him treatment mainly dialysis outside. “As order was granted by the court we approached jail authorities but they denied. So we were planning to move the court, in the meantime the incident happened last night,” a family member told.

He was also very close to Late Monorama Devi, so the vital part of the investigation depends on him. So he was very important figure in the entire episode and expectation was high from him to speak the truth, observers pointed out.

However, jail source rejected all such allegations level against them by the family members of the deceased. It claimed that all possible medical facilities were provided to Mandal but since he was suffering from many chronic diseases he might have collapse out of fear or tension for spending times inside the jail.  SSP, Bhagalpur, Monoj Kumar also rejected such allegations.
