Srijan scam has surcharged Bihar, but Bhagalpur, the epicenter of the scam, has started witnessing a peculiar situation – rumours and gossips have stated vibrating everywhere.
Mostly the politicians and the political activists jumped in the arena of social medias not for alleging the scam and the people associated with it rather to level allegation and counter allegations against their rivals for their involvements in the scam.
Economic Offence Unit (EOU), supposed to be one of the important investigating agency in Bihar earlier has been assigned by the state chief minister to probe the scam and soon the team under the leadership of its inspector general, J S Gangwar, took charge of investigation, the entire administrative corridor highly surcharged since August 8.
But on the same time many blogs , groups, face book posts and WhatsApp comments have just started adding fuel to the fire. Interestingly, some of them have even stated assessing the quantum of intensity of the scam and the possible involvement of persons in it. Name of the beneficiaries in the scam also started flouting in social media when the concerned government’s agencies applying all efforts to identify the real culprits involved in it.
The gossips generated by the media particularly and social media in general, however put the politicians on their toes and some of them already drawn the battle lines for the war- war of words on social media against their rivals for planting them as the beneficiaries of the scam.
Nishi Kant Dubey, firebrand BJP MP from Godda in neighbouring Jharkhand, today sent a legal notice to a vernacular daily asking for either to tender apology or to get ready to face a deformation of Rs 1 crore as the newspaper recently published a photo in which Nishi Kant giving rewards to Amit Kumar and Priya Kumar, son and daughter in law of Late Manorama Devi. Through this photo, it was alleged that efforts were taken for involving his name in the scam. Nishi Kant was alleged for investment of huge money to the construction of a mall from the scam. The mall is at under construction in the heart of Bhagalpur. The issue converted into a debate on social media after the rivals of Dubey framed charges against Dubey with the basis of a recent media report.
Dubey who strongly refused such allegation on the social media, clarified his stand while posting a letter from GTM Builders and Promoters Pvt. Ltd. The letter strongly condemned such rumour and said the construction work is going on the land of Nishi Kant Dubey by the GTM group.
National spokesperson of BJP and the former MP of Bhagalpur Syed Shahnawaz Hussain strongly condemned his rivals who have tried to tag his name in the much talked Srijan scam. An old photograph of Shahnawazn with Giriraj Singh at a function at Srijan’s campus appeared in a section of media. Laloo Prasad Yadav also displayed such photos during a press meet at Patna recently.
He said before exposer of this scam, everybody had an impression on Late Monorama Devi, the founder of the said NGO as social worker who works for empowerment of poor rural women. Husain clarified that whenever he had the opportunity to visit the office of the NGO located at Sabour block office premises, as the capacity of a public representative, he witnessed large number of poor women from rural background there. “I was not the sole instance, many politicians and others had the idea that the NGO was working really for the poor,” he told to @news5pm.in from New Delhi today.
“BJP leaders are unnecessarily dragged in this scam with a well calculated strategies by our rivals. Media also playing very nasty game to just add fuel to the fire,” said a BJP leader here. But when he was asked about a local influential BJP leader who was very close to Late Monorama Devi, now wanted by the police for his involvement in the scam, the BJP leader preferred to be silent.
Preety Shekhar, former deputy mayor and local BJP leader also in her face book post strongly objected for dragging her name in the scam in media. She even warned her rivals. She claimed such practices to tarnish her image in public. “My husband today called on the editor of that newspaper which enlisted my name in a single column news with others,” Preety pointed out.
It’s not only the politicians, media persons also started playing speculation game. “They have projecting the names of some of the media persons in the scam where there is no substantial evidences,” observers said. Echoing the same, a senior cop here was apparently surprised when asked about involvement of any media persons in the scam. “We observed some media reports in which the names of media men were mentioned as the beneficiaries in the scam. But we yet not investigated in this direction and hope such speculations are the outcome of internal bickering among them,” the cryptic comment of the cop.
“This scam has gifted a peculiar situation in this city where everyone became busy how to defame his rival by attaching his name in the scam. Interestingly, the real culprits involved in the scam are vanished from the scenario,” pointed out a resident here.
