District administration, Banka, a sleepy backward eastern Bihar district having Maoists menaces also, for the first time in Bihar devised unique method to address unemployed youths.

In a first of its kind initiative in Bihar, the famous multinational companies  & dream destination of youths Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has started special employability bridge & placement program  for the youths of Banka. The youths who are registered with DRCC Banka, could be direct beneficiaries of it. Under the ambitious “Mukhya Mantri Saat Nishchay Yojna” , students can register their selves for the various schemes like  Kushal Yuva Program,Student Credit Card etc at DRCC, Banka which are aimed to enable the youths self-reliant by improving their competency through creating opportunities for education and skill development. District Administration, Banka has recently launched  “UNNAYAN Banka”  initiative which envisages to provide better opportunities  to the youths of the district to excel in their life and this Placement Program by TCS is a part of that.

This ambitious program of  TCS  is inaugurated by DM Banka, Kundan Kumar who told that district administration envision to provide better avenues to the youths of the district so that they can realize their dreams and utilize their innate potential. He said that he believes that given the opportunities and skills, even the socially and economically excluded youth from the most vulnerable sections of society could be able to uplift their families out of poverty, join the social process of inclusion and shall have a better dignified life.

The program will provide 20 days exhaustive personality grooming and corporate etiquette training to the candidates and all those completing the training successfully will get certificate by TCS. Within a week of closing of the training, an HR team from TCS will visit Banka and the placement interview will be held for the candidates who have successfully completed the camp. All those who are selected will be placed  in TCS  across different locations in India. For Girls candidates Varanasi, Kolkata etc  being the most likely locations. All the candidates completing the training successfully would receive a TCS certificate and appreciation which will increase their employability in the corporate world in other companies too. The training camp would last for 20 days, with each day the sessions are for about 6 hours,and with lunch break and Bio breaks,it goes for about 7 hours. During the training, the trainees go through number of assessments and very lively practical sessions from Day one. The training focusses on enhancing and improving the confidence level of the participants and hones their communication skills in English, analytical reasoning and Corporate etiquette. This also focusses on Resume building & interview facing skills, Communicative English, Corporate etiquette and soft skills, analytical and reasoning skills etc. This course teaches student graduates skills such as how to work closely with a team of colleagues they have never met before, how to meet a pressing deadline, and how to navigate a job interview, among other things. Commitment of the candidates is very vital to the Program. Drop outs and irregular attendees will not be allowed to complete the training, nor to appear in the Placement Interview. The first batch is comprised of about 70 candidates who are being trained by trainers from TCS.

Kumar said that TCS has started another such programme for 50 another students to watch the zeal of the students at the district.

The specialty of this program is that, it doesn’t look only for the  youths having technical degrees but Final year Undergraduates and recently passed out BA,BSc and BCom students  are also the prime target group. Seeing the great enthusiasm of Team at Banka, TCS has assured to continuously organize such Placement camps in Banka in future too. Apart from that, District administration is in Discussion with TCS to devise some special programs which can further uplift the employability of youths in Banka District under its UNNAYAN Banka initiative.

Attending the Inaugural Session, the TL-AA of TCS Puthumai  A. Nazarene expressed his joy. “ I am happy that this program is being launched in  a sleepy district like Banka in Bihar. Promoting learning at all levels has been the driving philosophy behind TCS initiatives on the education front. This program aims to strengthen the employability of unemployed youths so that they can see a brighter future with aspiration and hope. This program also gives opportunity to Women candidates  a chance to learn from role models, sharpen their basic skills, and challenge their perceptions of technology and occupational gender stereotypes. TCS also offers one-two-one mentoring to students to further bolster their confidence,” he pointed out.

The credit of successful organization of this Employability Bridge and Placement training camp goes to the team comprising Y.P Tara Amit, Sudhakar,Abhishek ,Dileep Sarkar, Nawal Kishor, Rakesh Kumar ,DRCC Manager, IT Manager, Kumar told.

“I had decided to migrate to Delhi or some other part in search of a greener pasture knowing that I would have hardly managed some low grade job or would have to work as daily wage labour at places like Delhi. But now the TCS would certainly changed my fate,” said Anil Murmu, a tribal youth from Banka who completed his graduation recently.
