Bhagalpur police remains fix after Bhagalpur divisional commissioner, Rajesh Kumar received a mail in his messenger in which he was intimated that someone wants to kill him.
Kumar a no-nonsense officer has recently take action against erring officials here for delaying in Smart City plan and also for some gross irregularities. The officials from Bihar state administrative services have boycotted the meeting of the commissioner and in protest the officials started wearing black batches.
According to sources, some unknown persons sent a massage to Kumar in which he claimed that he came across a person who has been plotting to kill Kumar. The sender of the massage also disclosed the identity of the person who wants to kill the commissioner. The man has mentioned the name of person as Rajesh and a native of heart of Bhagalpur city. He also provided Rajesh’s mobile number in the massage.
Deputy inspector of police (DIG), Bhagalpur Vikash Vaibhav has instructed senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bhagalpur to look to the matter on priority basis. SSP, Ashish Bharati has instructed Adampur PS to investigate the matter as soon as possible. Meanwhile, security arrangement has been beefed up at commissioner’s office and residence.
“We are verifying the matter,” was the brief reply of a senior cop when asked about the incident in which a top ranking bureaucrat’s life came under threat. “How you claim it security lapses and poor law and order situation in Bihar, it might be the handiwork of any mischief monger or any bad element. Let us verify it,” the cop remarked.
Kumar was not available for his comment but sources said his sub ordinates have started protesting his decisions particularly the punishments episodes. Kumar uses to visit remote places and inspect the schools and other government establishments. “He never tolerates any negligence by parts of a government employee and take firm action against erring government staffs. He recently created a storm while interfering the large scale irregularities in Smart City plan and managed to reject the tendering process,” a staffs of the office of the commissioner pointed out.
Observers however said that such types of threats are very common here against such strict officials. “Recently the registrar of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University received such threat calls on his mobile phone and was told to face the dire consequences. The Registrar, a former army official, had started opposing the mafia culture inside the varsity and became strict against false bills claimed by the contractors. Similarly, the commissioner has been on the eye of storm because he has tried to regularized the system which became derailed,” the observers pointed out.
